I’m old and grey and some people think always in the way. But I’ve had a reasonably varied and interesting life for a lad from the slums of the Sheffield Park District.

I spent 11 years working in industry 18 months of which were spent down the pit and the rest in engineering. I went to Sheffield University in 1977 and did a degree in Political Theory and Institutions. I spent most of the next 30 years teaching at the Sheffield College with exception of a couple when I bought and ran a wine shop. I retired in 2007 and travelled overland with my wife Anne to Australia on the second Ozbus.

My main interest is music and after performing in and around the folk clubs of South Yorkshire for 50 years I was encouraged by fellow musicians to produce a CD of my own songs. You can listen to a couple of tracks and find a link to buy it belo

the road to Oz

In 2007 my wife and I set off on the second Ozbus leaving Cleopatra’s Needle on the 23rd of September, arriving in Sydney on the 16th of December 12 weeks and 10,000 miles later.
